Seems Like Fun
Watching your daughter's soccer game.
Clips like this will do more to humanize Obama with middle America than staged bowling games. I like how this wasn't a staged event and it was shot paparrazi style by the AP. This is Obama watching his daughter's soccer game with his wife. Him making a joke and Michele repeatedly hitting him in the arm playfully.
I've been worried that Obama's been hugging the center too much as he's campaigning lately. But hugging the center seems to be what successful presidential candidates have to do. Clinton did it. And Bush did it with labels such as compassionate conservatism. But hugging the center doesn't mean he has to be centrist all the time. Look at Bush. He ended up veering way right.
Obama definitely knows how to win. I'm getting a bit wary though but I'll give him the benefit of a doubt now. My cautious side is reminding me of what Chappelle said on Inside the Actor's Studio about what his father said early on in his entertainment career about naming one's price. And to be able to walk away if it gets too expensive. For Chappelle, this meant walking away from the Comedy Central contract and going to Africa.
My need for a hero vs. political pragmatism. Subject of future post.
