Ocho, Al, Bee

My cousin and his friend stayed with me for two nights last week. My cousin’s friend wears a size “ocho” baseball cap. It’s the biggest size New Era offers and it’s hard to find caps that big because stores don’t typically carry that size. I know this because my cousin spent five minutes explaining the ins and outs of size “ocho” caps and how big his friend’s head is to have to wear a hat that big. Pretty funny.

Also, funny exchange of stories at Bonchon in which his friend acted as an objective judge. I told him my story. He hears me out. And then calmly asks me, “But did she cry and say that you single-handedly ruined her wedding? I laughed and said, “No.” Cousin wins.

It gets better because the night got even more outlandish as I got to meet the instigating bridesmaid later that night. Fortunately, any awkwardness had been squelched with alcohol hours before the laker game and none of us cared. One of them liked to high-five after every time she thought she had uttered a clever diss. Her high-fives became more incessant as my cousin and I tuned her out. We had a laugh about that the next day before I went to work hungover.

Been listening to Al Green’s new album “Lay It Down.” It’s so aptly named because the Reverend lays it DOWN. Damn. Al Green makes some romantic music. What a blessing to my ears.

Friday night, watched the national spelling bee on ABC and sent a text to KR. The Bee was awesome. The commentators kept trying to portray them as cute nerdy kids but having been a speller myself I know just how cutthroat those spellers really are. This guy, for example, knew exactly what he was doing in this interview. He toyed with her.
