Kerfuffle Spice

This morning, I came across the word “kerfuffle” and I thought to myself that it was just my type of word. Three syllables. Starts strong. Ends silly.
Last night, I felt as though I had accomplished something because I had finished folding my laundry. That feeling was short-lived as I watched Christian from Project Runway’s reaction to winning this season. That fierce bitch’s joyous tears upstaged my feeling of satisfaction! Congrats and more power to him. He was definitely the most fun to watch this season.
Seeing posh spice as a judge reminded me of two things:
1) The first time I saw a Spice Girls video. It was at my friend’s house. My friend was in a punk band at the time whose music was getting some love in surf videos. (As an aside, my parents got rid of TV programming when I was in junior high and since then I would try to get my TV fix at friend’s houses. They have TV now since my sister and I left the nest and, whenever I visit home, it’s funny to see how much TV they watch now.) Anyway, I remember thinking that if these girls could make it, anybody can.
2) Yanji China – I used to call a missionary from the UK who worked at the English Department with me, Righteous Spice. She didn’t get it or maybe she did but didn’t think it was funny. Probably the latter because I explained it to her and she still didn’t think it was funny.
