Why, oh, why does the rat keep pulling the pleasure lever?

Company holiday party. Open bar. I don’t have to finish the story except to say I think Heather slipped a roofie into the second shot that she handed me.

Opened my eyes this morning and groaned. I went to the bathroom. I started to run the shower. Shaved. And then I gagged over the toilet but nothing came out. I finished getting ready. Luckily, I happened to glance in the mirror before I left for work. I had only shaved half of my face.

At that point, I should have called in sick.

As the elevator approached the tenth floor, I took a breath. I’m sure all performers get this bit of anxiety. It’s a calm moment, followed by a mental boost. I gird, ready myself to react.

Maria smiles. What kind of smile was that though? An oh my god, I can’t believe you made it smile or a good morning smile. I’ll assume it was a good morning smile. I smile back. Enter the office. Arthur is chuckling and shaking his head. “I’m surprised you made it.” I tell the half shave story and that gets a big laugh. Lorna is laughing a bit too hard.
