Beowulf

The only way to see Beowulf properly is at IMAX 3D. Absolutely ridiculous. I wasn't even "pikachoo-ed," yet I sat there the whole time in slack-jawed wonder.

At one point, someone whimpered near me, "It's too close."

It was too close.

Also, there were some inaccuracies with regard to Angelina Jolie's body. If I'm not mistaken her hips are narrower in real life, boobs a bit bigger, and they hang a tad lower. But my memory references a time before Shiloh.

One of the IMAX 3D previews was of a U2 concert. I'm going to have to watch that. There were a couple scenes where it seemed as though I was in the drum set and the drummer was beating his drums around me.

The last time I went to IMAX 3D was at the Sony Metreon in SF. There, they gave you full helmets. At the Lincoln Center theaters, they provided huge clown glasses. Why did the full helmets seem less silly? Seems counter intuitive.

The movie itself sucked, or rather, would have sucked in 2D. Really simple. Beowulf is so one dimensionally alpha. The story was painfully linear too. Defeat demon, become king, fight another demon. the end.

But I was curious to see another Neil Gaiman movie. I really liked Stardust even though I tend to ignore fantasy.
