Soft Kisses and Heartbreak

I
saw these pulitzer prize winning pictures today and almost cried. They chronicle Derek Madsen's fight with cancer and they capture the courage, love, devotion, and the emotional drain that goes along with that type of fight.


In the picture above, Mom is arguing for more radiation treatments. Derek is telling his mom "I don't care! Take me home. I'm done, Mom. Are you listening to me? I'm done."

Derek is 10.
